Family Denies Austin Tice Remains Found in Syria, Says He Is Still Alive

The family of journalist and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Austin Tice, who has been missing in Syria for over 12 years, has denied that remains found in the region are his, asserting that they believe he is still alive. The family expressed that the initial report of his identification among the remains was false and contradicted quickly.

The reports of the remains surfaced in regional media outlets and were briefly mentioned on FoxNews.com. While an international search initiative organized by Qatar to locate captives held by ISIS has resulted in the discovery of remains in Syria, there is no evidence that any of them belong to Tice. Those most familiar with his case say he was not held by ISIS and was not in the area where remains were found. His family said in December that they have strong reason to believe he is alive.
