Indy 500 Pole-Sitter Crashes Into Crew Members on Pit Road

Robert Shwartzman’s Indianapolis 500 race ended in a disastrous crash during his pit stop, leaving several crew members injured. The rookie driver, who started the race on the pole, skidded and lost control, leading to a dangerous situation that nearly seriously injured his team’s personnel.

Shwartzman completed about 87 laps before entering his pit stall, where his car skidded due to unusual braking issues. Four of his crew members made a desperate attempt to avoid the sliding vehicle but were unsuccessful, with one being taken away on a stretcher. The incident highlighted the inherent dangers of high-speed motorsports, particularly during pit stops where the pace is slower but the potential for accidents remains high.
