Three more escaped New Orleans inmates, Lenton Vanburen, Leo Tate, and Jermaine Donald, have been captured as the manhunt continues for the last two fugitives from the mass jailbreak that occurred on May 16. Vanburen was apprehended in Baton Rouge, while Tate and Donald were taken into custody in Texas after a high-speed chase. Their arrests mark the latest developments in the case, which has seen eight of the 10 original escapees recaptured.
The trio, along with others, were among the 10 inmates who escaped from the Orleans Parish jail on May 16. Since then, law enforcement has made several arrests, including the recent capture of Corey Boyd, Kendell Myles, Robert Moody, Dkenan Dennis, and Gary Price. Additionally, 13 individuals have been charged for allegedly aiding the escaped inmates, with 21-year-old Diamond White and 59-year-old Connie Weeden among those arrested. Weeden is accused of providing financial assistance to Donald via a cellphone app, underscoring the collaborative nature of the investigation.
The remaining two fugitives, still at large, are considered armed and dangerous, according to authorities. The arrests have brought the number of captured escapees to eight, with only two remaining unaccounted for. This case has generated significant public interest and has led to heightened security measures across the region. As authorities continue their efforts to locate the last two missing inmates, the focus remains on ensuring public safety and bringing all those involved to justice.
