Duck Dynasty Star Willie Robertson Remembers Phil’s Final Words and Legacy
Willie Robertson, a former star of the popular reality show “Duck Dynasty,” has paid tribute to his late father, Phil Robertson, in a heartfelt Instagram post following Phil’s passing on Sunday. The beloved patriarch, known for his role in the A&E series, passed away at the age of 79. Willie shared a touching recollection of their final moments together. As Willie prepared to leave his father’s room, he performed a break dance – a move he had always done in front of Phil. In a weakened voice, Phil remarked, “Will, you got moves I didn’t know you had.” This moment encapsulated their unique relationship, where faith and humor often intertwined.
Willie reflected on the depth of their bond, describing how their conversations were often centered around sharing the Gospel rather than the typical topics of hunting or business. His tribute also highlighted the impact of Phil’s teachings, especially in his book “Gospeler,” which documented their discussions on faith. Willie’s heartfelt message concluded with a prayer for his father, expressing his love and gratitude for the lessons learned during their time together.
Phil, famous for launching the Duck Commander hunting company that became the focus of his A&E show, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in December 2024. His son concluded his heartfelt tribute and wrote, “Phil, I love you and already miss you. Thank you for raising me the right way and teaching me the most important lesson to prepare me for the day you passed on. Not sure how people deal with loss without the Lord. We may be wrong about all this… but I doubt it! Sleep well Dad, can’t wait to see you.”
His daughter Sadie also shared her own tribute, recalling the final words her grandfather shared with her before he passed away. She recounted how he said, “full strength ahead!” and reminded her of the scripture in 2 Corinthians 5:17, which speaks of being a new creation in Christ. She expressed the belief that her grandfather had already experienced this on earth, transitioning from death to life through the power of Christ.
Sadie’s mother, Korie Robertson, announced Phil’s death on social media, noting that the family was celebrating his passing as being “now with the Lord.” The family plans to hold a private service and will soon release details about a public celebration of life.
A&E announced earlier this year that the hit show will be revived eight years after its final episode. “Duck Dynasty: The Revival” will feature Willie, his wife, and their adult children, including John Luke, Sadie, Will, Bella, and Rebecca, along with their grandchildren. The original show, which aired for 11 seasons from 2012 to 2017, reached its peak with 11.8 million viewers. The revival is expected to continue the legacy of the original series and revisit the family’s journey together.
