FBI Director Kash Patel has pledged to deliver a ‘definitive answer’ to one of the most pressing questions surrounding the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021: whether FBI sources were on the ground during the event. In a recent exclusive interview with Fox News, Patel highlighted the bureau’s commitment to transparency following a lengthy inquiry into the matter.
Patel confirmed that the FBI is working with its partners to disclose the findings, which may be surprising based on past statements by previous FBI leaders. Earlier, a Justice Department Inspector General report revealed that out of 26 confidential human sources present outside the Capitol on January 6, only three were officially assigned by the FBI. The report also stated that none of these sources were directed to break the law or encourage illegal activity.
Patel called the findings from the DOJ IG report ‘definitely a piece of the truth,’ emphasizing that the FBI must be prepared to answer questions under oath without deflection. He also criticized former Director Christopher Wray for giving a ‘D.C. answer’ during congressional testimony, noting the need for greater accountability within the agency.
Patel’s commitment to transparency extends beyond the January 6 inquiry. He announced that the FBI is also advancing investigations into other high-profile matters, including the pipe bombs placed outside Democratic and Republican National Committee offices, the discovery of cocaine in the White House during Biden’s presidency, and the Trump-Russia connections probe known as ‘Crossfire Hurricane.’
