Andrew Farias, an 18-year-old recent high school graduate, was tragically killed during a confrontation at a graduation party in Texas. The incident occurred on May 25 at a home in Uhland, an Austin suburb. Authorities reported that a fight between two girls escalated into a violent altercation, leading to Farias’ fatal shooting. Chad Lee-Gardner, 18, was arrested on murder charges following the incident.
The dispute began when two girls were reportedly making faces and talking about other girls, according to a witness. During the conflict, Lee-Gardner allegedly hit the female homeowner with a pistol on the head. Farias, who played cornerback and running back for his high school football team, attempted to confront Lee-Gardner, who then opened fire twice, striking Farias. Farias, who had recently graduated from San Marcos High School, was scheduled to attend Texas State University in August, as stated by his family.
Lee-Gardner fled the scene before officers arrived, but he was later taken into custody in Austin. His arrest on murder charges has sparked community outrage and calls for stricter gun control measures. The family of the victim expressed their grief, highlighting the sudden loss of a young man who had his future ahead of him. This tragic event has raised concerns about the safety of public gatherings and the need for community intervention to prevent such incidents.
