California Shooting Leaves One Officer Dead, Another Injured

A police officer was killed and another was wounded in a shooting Saturday night in Baldwin Park, California, where another victim was also found dead.

According to Baldwin Park police chief Robert López, the shooting occurred near 4200 Filhurst Avenue around 7:15 p.m. Officers were called to the scene after reports of gunfire, but the suspect opened fire after their arrival, resulting in the death of one officer and a civilian.

Two officers were struck by gunshots and transported to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. One officer was transported on the ground and the other was airlifted to the hospital. The surviving officer was listed in stable condition.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that another victim was found dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound. One suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting, according to the sheriff’s department. The suspect was also wounded and transported to a hospital for treatment, with their condition unknown.

The incident remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the full circumstances of the shooting and the involvement of any additional parties.
