Republican Senator Bernie Moreno is demanding that the FBI investigate potential terror links of an illegal immigrant accused of plotting a violent attack against a pro-Israel group in Boulder, Colorado. The senator, who is a member of the GOP, is questioning the Biden administration’s vetting process and how the suspect was permitted to obtain work authorization and asylum. Moreno’s concerns were raised in a letter sent to FBI Director Kash Patel, obtained by Fox News Digital, which highlighted the senator’s belief that Jewish Americans are under attack in the United States.
Moreno’s letter was prompted by an attack on a pro-Israel group in Boulder, where Mohamed Sabry Soliman, a 45-year-old Egyptian national, was arrested at the scene after allegedly setting his victims on fire during a rally. Soliman, who entered the US on a tourist visa, overstayed and was granted work authorization by the Biden administration. Federal court filings revealed that Soliman admitted to planning the attack for a year and expressed a desire to kill all ‘Zion, and that he would conduct the attack again if he could.
The FBI has confirmed it is treating the attack as a targeted act of terrorism and is working with Boulder Police to process the crime scene. Special Agent Mark Michalek stated that the FBI’s commitment to shared values is essential in preventing such attacks. Moreno is also requesting information on who provided financial support for the suspect’s travel overseas and any potential connections to extremist groups like ISIS or Hamas. In addition, the senator is seeking details on how the suspect’s asylum claim was processed under the Biden-Harris administration.
