Colorado’s Sanctuary Policies Alleged to Enable Antisemitic Terror Attack

Local District Attorney George Brauchler has accused Colorado’s Democrat-led state government of creating an environment where an antisemitic terror attack could occur through its permissive sanctuary policies. The incident, which took place last weekend, targeted pro-Israel activists during a Run for Their Lives protest in Boulder, Colorado. The suspect, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, an Egyptian national, allegedly used a makeshift flamethrower to injure eight individuals, including a 88-year-old Holocaust survivor.

Brauchler, a Republican DA for Colorado’s 23rd district, argued that the state’s policies have emboldened illegal immigrants to act with impunity. He described Soliman as someone who could have taken advantage of the lax enforcement environment to plan and execute the attack. The suspect, who entered the U.S. in 2022 with an expired visa, was living in the country illegally at the time of the incident, according to a DHS spokeswoman.

The FBI reported that Soliman was observed shouting ‘Free Palestine’ during the attack, indicating possible radicalization. Authorities are now investigating whether his actions were linked to his potential radicalization. Brauchler expressed concern that without a strong response from the federal government, similar incidents could escalate, not just in Colorado but nationwide.

Brauchler also suggested that the Trump administration may step in to handle the case, emphasizing the need for a significant statement to deter future attacks. He stated that Colorado, which he has called home for his entire life, no longer feels like the same state due to the policies enacted over the past decade.
