Nashville Hit-and-Run Victim’s Family Seeks Justice as Illegal Immigrant Fugitive Sought

Law enforcement in Nashville is actively pursuing an illegal immigrant, Tony Lopez-Infante, after he was identified as the suspect in a serious hit-and-run crash that injured a Florida man.

According to reports, Lopez-Infante, a 32-year-old Venezuelan national, was involved in the May 18 incident on Church St., which left Zach Carach, 21, seriously injured. Carach, who was celebrating his 21st birthday at the time of the collision, is currently hospitalized and has been wheelchair-bound for the next two months. Authorities confirmed that Lopez-Infante entered the U.S. in August 2023 and is in the country illegally, having been ordered for removal.

ICE stated that the fugitive’s vehicle, a Mitsubishi Mirage, was returned to a rental facility in Mt. Juliet on May 19 with front-end damage. Officers discovered the car the following day and matched it to Lopez-Infante, leading to the search for the fugitive. The vehicle was later identified as the one involved in the crash.

Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., has highlighted the case, stating that his office obtained video footage of the incident and is pushing for justice. The incident has also drawn attention to the broader issue of illegal immigration, with similar cases in Texas and other states showing the potential dangers associated with such individuals.

The victim’s family, Sheena Carach, is pleading for the public’s help in finding Lopez-Infante, citing his apparent attempts to evade detection. Police are offering a reward and urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Authorities also note that Lopez-Infante faces multiple charges, including failure to render aid, and is wanted in Williamson County for a probation violation.
