U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has intensified its operations in Los Angeles, resulting in the arrest of over 7,400 illegal immigrants in the past nine days. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has shared details on more than a dozen suspects with violent criminal histories, including murder, rape, and robbery. These arrests occurred amid widespread violence following ICE raids, with hundreds of illegal aliens detained by agents. The DHS released the information after riots erupted in Downtown LA, as they accused the city’s leaders of failing to address the situation.
Sheriff Chad Bianco of Riverside County has publicly criticized Governor Gavin Newsom for allegedly encouraging the riots through political rhetoric, claiming that Newsom’s actions hinder law enforcement efforts. Bianco, a Republican running for governor, accused the governor of fueling unrest by not taking adequate measures to stop the violence. The sheriff’s statements highlight growing tensions between the state government and law enforcement, with critics pointing to the role of political figures in escalating conflicts.
ICE has also arrested several American citizens for obstructing federal officers and assaulting law enforcement during the protests. The agency emphasized that its operations have not been deterred by the violence, declaring that it has arrested 2,000 illegal immigrants per day this week. Federal officials have called for an end to the unrest, with ICE Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin condemning elected officials for promoting rhetoric that has led to increased attacks on law enforcement.
DHS has released comprehensive details on 19 suspects arrested on June 7, including a Vietnamese national with a prior conviction for second-degree murder and others with charges of sexual assault, robbery, and narcotics violations. These individuals are facing deportation as part of the ongoing crackdown. Meanwhile, federal officials warn that the rhetoric of Democratic leaders and local officials is contributing to the violence, urging them to cease their inflammatory comments and support law enforcement efforts.
