In an interview with Fox News Digital, progressive House member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has accused President Donald Trump of intentionally instigating chaos and unrest, specifically linking the ongoing immigration riots in Los Angeles to his administration. Ocasio-Cortez claims that Trump and his Homeland Security advisor Stephen Miller are deliberately creating tensions to stoke nationwide unrest.
The riots, which began in response to ICE operations in the city, have led to widespread violence and a large-scale government response, including the deployment of National Guard and Marines. Ocasio-Cortez, seen as a leading figure in the Democratic Party and a potential 2028 presidential candidate, emphasized the need for accountability for the Trump administration’s actions. She stated that the chaos in Los Angeles is a direct result of the administration’s decisions and that Trump has knowingly created this unrest, which he must answer for.
Ocasio-Cortez also argued that it is unreasonable to blame those not in charge of the country for the actions of the rioters, pointing out that the responsibility lies with the leaders making the chaos. She criticized the idea that Democrats should be held accountable for the violence, stating that the Trump administration is the one intentionally creating the situation.
Earlier this week, Ocasio-Cortez attempted to downplay the rioting, saying on the social media platform Bluesky that Democrats do not need to answer for every teen who throws a rock. She expressed frustration with what she described as a Republican trap, where the party is trying to explain why certain parts of the city had gone up in flames. Ocasio-Cortez insisted that the responsibility lies with the leaders, not the rioters.
