Former Minnesota Vikings and University of Minnesota football player Jack Brewer has spoken out about the recent shootings of two state lawmakers and their spouses, blaming Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz for the state’s alleged transformation into ‘the capital of chaos.’ Brewer, who played for the Vikings and Gophers before his NFL career, criticized Walz’s leadership, claiming that the suspect in the case—a former Walz appointee—illustrates the dangers of the current political climate in Minnesota.
Brewer expressed deep disappointment that the state, once known for its stability and respectful community, now faces violence and lawlessness. He stated that Walz’s administration has allowed the influence of a ‘liberal hub’ around Minneapolis and St. Paul to dominate, leading to dangerous conditions. Brewer specifically cited Walz’s attorney general, Keith Ellison, as a key figure in the state’s transformation, calling both men ‘the example of a weak, emasculated leader.’
The suspect, Vance Luther Boelter, 57, is a former Walz appointee and was reappointed to the state’s Workforce Development Board in 2019. He reportedly earned a Ph.D. in leadership and was initially appointed by Gov. Mark Dayton in 2016. Boelter allegedly posed as a police officer during the shootings, killing Sen. John Hoffman and his wife before moving to attack former House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband. Walz’s office has not yet commented, though the governor described the incident as a ‘politically motivated assassination.’
Brewer, who has family still living in the state, lamented the changes he has witnessed and called for a return to traditional values, including fatherhood and family protection. He argued that the Democrats’ extreme leftward shift has led to a culture of conformity and hostility toward differing opinions, even within the party. ‘Whenever you give Satan power, he shows his face,’ Brewer said, referring to the current state of affairs in Minnesota.
