China has condemned the United States for undermining global stability through its recent strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, accusing Washington of damaging its own credibility in the process. Chinese Ambassador to the United Nations, Fu Cong, stated during a UN Security Council meeting that the U.S. actions not only harmed Iran but also eroded the United States’ standing as a reliable participant in international negotiations. The Chinese Foreign Ministry echoed these concerns, emphasizing that the strikes represented a serious violation of international law, particularly because the targeted facilities were under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The attacks, which were part of a broader campaign involving Israel and the United States, followed nearly two weeks of hostilities between Iran and Israel. Israeli forces had already launched preemptive strikes on Iranian territory, targeting facilities linked to Iran’s nuclear program, following claims by Israel that Tehran was close to developing nuclear weapons. The U.S. joined the campaign, bombing multiple Iranian nuclear sites. These actions have drawn intense criticism from global powers, including Russia and China, which argue that such strikes are illegitimate and violate the UN Charter.
In addition to China, Russia has also condemned the U.S.-led strikes, with Russian President Vladimir Putin calling the actions ‘unprovoked aggression’ and expressing no justification for the attacks. During a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Moscow, Putin described the Israeli-US operation as ‘illegitimate’ and a violation of international law. Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has also criticized the strikes, arguing that the vast majority of countries oppose the operation and have accused former U.S. President Donald Trump of pushing the United States into another war. Medvedev added that Trump could ‘forget about the Nobel Peace Prize,’ highlighting the international backlash against the actions.
