Anthony Emmanuel Labrador Sierra, a 24-year-old illegal immigrant from Venezuela, faces federal charges after allegedly using fraudulent documents to pose as a teenager and illegally obtain a firearm in Perrysburg, Ohio. The case comes to light following an investigation that revealed the extent of his deception in both educational and immigration matters. Labrador Sierra was indicted by a federal grand jury, which returned a four-count indictment against him. Among the charges is possession of a firearm by an unauthorized alien, making false statements during the purchase of the firearm, and using false documents to obtain legal status.
The indictment states that Labrador Sierra submitted a false date of birth to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in 2024 and 2025 to acquire Temporary Protective Status and Employment Authorization Documents. These documents allowed him to access various services, including a state-issued driver’s license, social security number, and Temporary Protective Status in the U.S. His fraudulent activities culminated in a situation where the school district, after being contacted by officials regarding discrepancies in his age and identity, ultimately reported the case to law enforcement.
Law enforcement, including the Perrysburg Police Department, in partnership with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), discovered that Labrador Sierra was a 24-year-old from Venezuela who had enrolled in a local high school under a false identity. This deception included posing as a 16-year-old student, which led to his eventual arrest. The school district’s statement explained that Labrador Sierra was enrolled at Perrysburg High School under the name and age of a 16-year-old unaccompanied minor on January 11, 2024, in accordance with federal and state requirements for enrolling students experiencing homelessness or without a legal guardian.
The school district also noted that Labrador Sierra obtained documentation, including a driver’s license, social security number, and Temporary Protective Status, which complicated the situation further. The investigation into his enrollment led to his arrest, highlighting the complex legal and ethical implications of identity fraud. Labrador Sierra, who denied the allegations when met with by district administrators on May 15, was ultimately taken into custody during a traffic stop on Interstate 75 on Tuesday afternoon. This case underscores the serious consequences of immigration fraud and the impact it can have on both individual lives and institutional trust in educational and governmental systems.
