Trump Claims Global Peace Deals and Respected Leadership Restore U.S. Prestige

President Donald Trump predicted there will be a ceasefire in Gaza within the next week and touted his administration’s success in achieving peace through strength, claiming that world leaders now respect the United States again. During a news conference in the Oval Office following a U.S.-brokered African peace deal, Trump highlighted his administration’s global progress, stating that the shift in international perception stems from his leadership’s effectiveness compared to the previous administration. He criticized the previous administration for its alleged ineptitude and the presence of ‘bad people’ around the presidency, asserting that this has led to a restoration of the U.S.’s global standing.

Trump discussed a freshly brokered African peace deal between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, which aims to end a decades-long conflict. He called it a ‘tremendous breakthrough’ and listed other recent achievements, including peace deals between India and Pakistan, Israel and Iran, and the DRC and Rwanda. He also noted progress in Serbia and Kosovo, emphasizing that these outcomes could only be achieved through U.S. strength and resolve. The president further praised the outcome of a recent U.S. strike on Iranian nuclear sites, which he stated led to the destruction of these facilities and the brokered ceasefire between Israel and Iran.

Trump also mentioned a potential ceasefire in Gaza, predicting it could be achieved within the next week. He described the situation as ‘terrible’ but expressed optimism that a ceasefire is near, stating that he had spoken with the involved parties. Trump addressed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, acknowledging the U.S.’s responsibility to provide aid and emphasizing that while the U.S. is not involved in the conflict, it is actively contributing resources to the region. He also called on other countries to assist in providing humanitarian aid to Gaza, underscoring the urgent need for international cooperation.

Furthermore, Trump highlighted improvements in U.S. relations with countries such as Russia, North Korea, China, and Iran, citing their respect for the U.S. under his leadership. He particularly noted Putin’s recent positive statements, stating that Putin and other global leaders now respect the U.S. again. In response to a question about authorizing U.S. Patriot missiles for Ukraine’s air defenses, Trump simply replied that he ‘may’ authorize such action, leaving the decision open to potential future considerations.
