Arizona Diamondbacks fans gave star player Ketel Marte a standing ovation during his first home game since a fan in Chicago made derogatory comments about his late mother, Elpidia Valdez, who died in a 2017 car crash in the Dominican Republic. The incident brought Mart, and comforted by manager Torey Lovullo during the game. The fan who made the comments was ejected and banned from all MLB games.
