A Virginia angler has set a new state record in North Carolina by catching an enormous 56-pound almaco jack, surpassing the previous record of 33 pounds. The fish, which measures 46 inches in fork length and has a 31-inch girth, was officially certified by the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Marine Fisheries.
