Elon Musk to Donate to Rep. Thomas Massie Amid Political Tensions

Business tycoon Elon Musk has stated that he will donate to Rep. Thomas Massie, a Republican House member who has been heavily criticized by former President Donald Trump. Massie, a fiscal hawk, has been one of the two House Republicans who opposed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act that cleared the House of Representatives in May. He also labeled Trump’s strikes against Iran last month as ‘not Constitutional.’ Musk, in a post on X, criticized members of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending but voted for the biggest debt increase in history, urging them to ‘hang their head in shame.’ Former Rep. Justin Amash urged Musk to support Massie, emphasizing the importance of having a genuine fiscal conservative in Congress. Musk has since pledged his support for Massie’s re-election campaign, stating his intention to donate to the congressman’s efforts. Massie expressed gratitude for Musk’s financial assistance, noting how Musk’s purchase of Twitter and the development of the X platform have helped him bypass conventional media to provide transparency about legislative processes and expose the worst parts of the One Big Beautiful Bill as well as reassert Congressional War Powers. He highlighted the importance of his re-election as a referendum on whether members of Congress can think and act independently based on what’s best for the country, rather than being mere rubber stamps for political parties and special interests. Trump, on multiple occasions, has criticized Massie, calling him a ‘pathetic LOSER’ and claiming that he will be a ‘wonderful American Patriot’ running against him in the Republican Primary. However, Massie has been rallying significant campaign contributions, with over 3,417 donors contributing $308,665 last week. Massie’s campaign highlights the grassroot support he has been receiving, which he attributes to the public’s recognition of his efforts to provide transparency and challenge the political establishment, despite the significant pushback from Trump and his allies.
