Trump Proposes Investigation into Musk’s Government Subsidies

President Donald Trump has proposed that Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, should be investigated by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which Musk previously headed. Trump claims Musk has received more US government subsidies than any human being in history, suggesting an excessive benefit from federal support.

Musk, a former ally of Trump, stepped down from leading DOGE last month due to disagreements over Trump’s ‘big, beautiful’ budget bill, which includes a $5 trillion debt ceiling increase. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO has repeatedly criticized the legislation, saying it undermines his work with DOGE to cut federal spending.

The tech billionaire attacked the bill and its supporters again on Tuesday as the US Senate began voting on the amendments to Trump’s 940-page proposal. Musk wrote on X, stating that every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should ‘hang their head in shame.’

Additionally, Musk reiterated his call for a new ‘America Party’ to be formed as an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty, giving the people a ‘VOICE.’ Trump, who claims that the actual reason for Musk’s anger was not the ‘big, beautiful bill,’ but Musk’s plans to roll back the government’s electric vehicle (EV) subsidies, fired back at Musk in a post on his Truth Social platform.

Trump stated that Elon may receive more subsidies than any human being in history, and without these subsidies, he would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa. Trump argued that without the assistance from the government to Musk’s companies, there would be ‘no more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE.’ He emphasized that DOGE should take a ‘good, hard, look at this,’ noting that ‘BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!’

Trump also added that Musk knew, long before endorsing him for President, that he was strongly against the EV Mandate, calling it ‘ridiculous’ and stating that ‘Electric cars are fine, but not everyone should be forced to own one.’
