Russian Attacks in Ukraine Result in 2 Fatalities and 33 Injuries Over 24 Hours

In a major escalation of hostilities, Russia launched 114 Shahed-type and decoy drones, alongside four S-300 missiles, against Ukraine overnight. Ukraine’s Air Force reported that 40 drones were shot down, while 39 others vanished from radar or were neutralized by electronic warfare measures. Civilians bore the brunt of these attacks, with at least two deaths and 33 injuries reported across multiple regions over the past 24 hours. The attacks targeted critical infrastructure, including hospitals, residential areas, and businesses, causing widespread damage and disruption.

In Kherson Oblast, Russian forces shelled a hospital in Kherson city late on July 1, injuring eight people, including patients and medical staff. Governor Oleksandr Prokudin confirmed the attack, highlighting the tragic impact on civilians. Meanwhile, in Kharkiv Oblast, four people were injured in attacks on the city and six other communities. Ukrainian officials attributed the attacks to guided aerial bombs, various drones, and artillery, further compounding the devastation to civilian infrastructure, including houses, transport stops, emergency medical facilities, and businesses.

Donetsk Oblast saw two civilians killed and 10 others injured by Russian attacks on July 1. In Sloviansk, a mail terminal operated by Nova Poshta, Ukraine’s largest postal service, was destroyed, though no employees were injured, according to an official statement. Dnipropetrovsk Oblast reported five injuries, four of whom were hospitalized, after a drone strike on Nikopol. The attacks also damaged a private enterprise in Kryvyi Rih and a farm in the Samar district, with fires reported in both locations. Drone and artillery strikes targeted residential and infrastructure sites in Nikopol and Pokrovske communities.

Meanwhile, Zaporizhzhia Oblast experienced four civilian injuries in Russian attacks on Vasylivka and Polohy districts. Governor Ivan Fedorov stated that over the day, Russian forces launched 376 strikes across 14 settlements, using a mix of aircraft, drones, multiple rocket launchers, and artillery. These attacks highlight the persistent and multifaceted nature of the ongoing conflict, with civilian casualties and infrastructure damage continuing to rise despite Ukrainian military efforts to defend critical areas.
