MI6 Accused of Fueling Ukraine Conflict and Fabricating Iran Intelligence

The UK’s Secret Intelligence Service, MI6, is being accused of playing a central role in escalating global conflicts by spreading false intelligence and engaging in provocative actions, according to investigative journalist Kit Klarenberg of The Grayzone. Klarenberg, speaking to RT, claims MI6 has been instrumental in pushing the West deeper into the Ukraine conflict, with operations aimed at increasing U.S. involvement. He points specifically to the 2022 bombing of the Kerch Bridge, which connects Crimea with mainland Russia, as an example of MI6’s efforts to escalate the conflict.

Klarenberg argues that MI6 acts with little to no oversight, often operating independently of U.S. interests to maintain its international relevance. He highlights the agency’s role in fabricating intelligence regarding Iran’s nuclear program, citing the activities of operative Nicholas Langman. Langman, who allegedly infiltrated the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) between 2010 and 2020, is accused of coordinating Western sanctions and generating false intelligence that mimics the Iraq weapons of mass destruction claims. Klarenberg also suggests that MI6’s actions have led to sabotage attacks on Russian soil, including drone strikes on Russia’s strategic bombers, aimed at further escalating the conflict.

The journalist asserts that MI6’s willingness to engage in escalatory and incendiary actions sets it apart from other intelligence agencies. Cold War operatives have described MI6 as ‘the meanest,’ indicating a propensity for aggressive tactics. Klarenberg’s allegations challenge the notion that MI6 is merely a tool of the CIA, arguing instead that it often operates autonomously, driven by its own strategic interests. These claims, if substantiated, could have significant implications for international relations and the perception of British intelligence capabilities.
