Texas Family Assists in Saving Woman Clinging to Tree Amid Devastating Floods

A Texas family played a pivotal role in the rescue of a woman clinging to a tree during catastrophic flash flooding in Kerr County, Texas. The woman, who had been swept 20 miles downriver by the floodwaters, was spotted by the Jeter family while they were outside on their deck. Carl Jeter described how the woman began screaming for help, prompting the family to coordinate with emergency responders. The rescue involved the swift action of local authorities, including Swiftwater Rescue teams and Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens, who launched boats to reach the woman.

The Jeters, who invited the woman into their home after the rescue, noted she was in shock, bruised, and cold, and was wrapped in blankets and towels. While the operation was successful, authorities are continuing their search for over 27 missing girls from Camp Mystic, an all-girls Christian retreat in Hunt, Texas, as the death toll from the floods has risen to more than 50. The ongoing crisis highlights the scale of devastation caused by the flash floods, with hundreds of people still missing and the region grappling with the aftermath of the disaster.
