Fox News’ Trey Gowdy Launches Fiction Debut with Psychological Crime Novel

Fox News host Trey Gowdy has made his fiction debut with the release of ‘The Color of Death,’ a psychological crime novel set for publication on August 26. The book, available for preorder now, is a collaboration between Gowdy and best-selling author Christopher Greyson, who co-authored the latest title under FOX News Books, the network’s first fiction offering. The novel follows Assistant District Attorney Colm Truesdale, who is left mentally scarred after the tragic death of his wife and daughter. After a period of absence from the courtroom, Truesdale is reappointed to investigate the murder of a young woman who runs a beauty salon outside of town. When the crime scene burns down and a critical page from her appointment book goes missing, Truesdale must unravel the web of deception that implicates a powerful judge and his family.

Gowdy, a former state and federal prosecutor with extensive experience in handling criminal cases, including seven death penalty trials, brings his real-world expertise to the novel. He has been instrumental in the prosecution of numerous murder cases, and the book reflects his deep understanding of the emotional and psychological impact of such work. ‘Throughout my years as a prosecutor, I’ve learned that those who do this work best don’t just argue cases, they endure the fear, anger, pain, and loss of innocence of the victims they are fighting for,’ Gowdy explained. The novel is a rare glimpse into the psychological intricacies of the courtroom and the emotional burden carried by those who work within it.

Gowdy’s collaboration with Greyson, an award-winning author with a career spanning mystery, action, and thriller genres, highlights the fusion of legal expertise and literary storytelling. Greyson, known for his work on the Kindle platform, is among the top 100 Kindle authors of all time, having sold over 3.5 million eBooks, print copies, and audiobooks. The novel’s launch marks the 16th title for FOX News Books, which has already surpassed three million in sales since its inception in 2020. The book is marketed as a psychological crime drama, combining elements of a whodunit with the emotional rollercoaster of a murder investigation, offering readers a unique perspective on the complexities of justice.
