The Israeli government agency COGAT has publicly criticized international organizations, including the United Nations, for failing to distribute thousands of aid pallets already in Gaza, while simultaneously criticizing the humanitarian situation. The U.N.’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) responded by attributing the aid distribution challenges to the restrictive operational environment in Gaza. The humanitarian foundation GHF has also joined Israel in questioning the U.N.’s logistical execution, citing ongoing theft and obstruction of aid deliveries. A U.N. statement highlighted the critical fuel shortage in Gaza, while COGAT accused the organization of either being unaware of the situation on the ground or spreading falsehoods. Meanwhile, the GHF, which has delivered over 76 million meals, insists it has worked closely with the U.N. to secure aid access, but faults the organization for failing to distribute the aid effectively.
