Teen Girl Struck by Truck While Sunbathing on Beach

A 15-year-old girl was struck by a GMC pickup truck conducting beach survey work on Oak Island, North Carolina, on Monday after 2 p.m. The vehicle, a 2020 model GMC pickup truck, belongs to TI Coastal Services, a private contractor conducting Beach Survey work for engineering firm Moffatt & Nichol, in preparation for the upcoming 2025 / 26 Beach Nourishment Project. The Survey, which began on July 7, is intended to last two weeks and includes both land and sea surveying.

Authorities were dispatched to the scene after reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle driving on the beach. Upon arrival, officials located the victim, who was evaluated on-site for possible non-life-threatening injuries after the vehicle apparently ran over her legs. The city said authorities transported the victim to a nearby hospital out of caution, and they are investigating the incident.
