DHS Reports 830% Surge in Assaults Against Immigration Officials

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has reported a dramatic increase in attacks against immigration officials, citing a surge of 830% compared to the same period last year. The agency attributes this rise to ‘hysterical rhetoric’ from ‘gutter politicians’ and claims that ICE agents are effectively removing dangerous individuals from communities. The DHS highlighted specific incidents, such as a violent altercation during a congressional oversight visit and an attack on an ICE employee in California, which left the agent with multiple stitches.

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem called on politicians to condemn these attacks, emphasizing the need for unity in addressing the issue. The situation has escalated into widespread protests and riots, particularly in California, prompting President Trump to deploy the National Guard. Newsom accused Washington of staging a ‘federal takeover,’ which further fueled tensions and led to protests in cities like New York, Chicago, and Dallas.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated that ICE law enforcement are succeeding in removing terrorists, murderers, pedophiles, and the most depraved among us from America’s communities, even as ‘crazed rhetoric from gutter politicians’ is inspiring a massive increase in assaults against them. The agency cited several cases, including the indictment of Representative LaMonica McIver on federal assault charges following a violent altercation at a detention facility in New Jersey.

Recent incidents, such as the attack on an ICE employee in California, where the official was struck by a rock and required medical treatment, further underscore the tension surrounding immigration enforcement. The DHS expressed concerns over the safety of its agents amid the rising incidents and the impact on public security.
