Federal authorities have arrested Anthony Kelly, a Cincinnati resident, for allegedly making terroristic threats against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and a federal official. The arrest comes in the wake of a dramatic 830% increase in attacks on ICE agents, reported by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). According to Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary for public affairs at DHS, Kelly faces federal charges for threatening to kidnap, assault, and murder a U.S. official. McLaughlin emphasized that such threats will not be tolerated, stating that Kelly will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The arrest is part of a broader context marked by a surge in attacks on ICE agents, which the DHS highlighted in its recent reports. Additionally, the agency noted a significant rise in doxxing incidents, where individuals post agents’ photos and personal information online. In response, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem issued a memo urging the Justice Department to take legal action against those involved in doxxing, asserting that these individuals are aligning with criminal groups like cartels and human traffickers. The situation underscores the heightened security threats faced by ICE agents, prompting increased law enforcement efforts to address the growing concerns.
