The family of Keith McAllister, a 61-year-old man who tragically died in a fatal MRI accident on Long Island, is alleging that the technician at Nassau Open MRI was responsible for his death due to a lack of proper warnings about the dangers of metal near the machine. McAllister, who was accompanying his wife for a knee scan, was pulled into the MRI by its powerful magnetic field due to the chain he was wearing. He remained trapped for nearly an hour before being freed. The technician, who had invited him into the room, failed to warn him about the risks of metal objects near the machine, according to his daughter, Samantha Bodden.
The incident occurred at Nassau Open MRI in Westbury, where McAllister was pulled into the machine by its magnetic force. According to Bodden, the technician left the room during the procedure to get McAllister to assist his wife, but failed to warn him about the danger of wearing metal near the machine. She emphasized that the technician had invited him into the room, contradicting some media reports that suggested he shouldn’t have been there.
