Teddi Mellencamp’s Home Burglary Attempt: Security Systems Prevent Crime, Family Safe

Teddi Mellencamp, the former reality television star and star of ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,’ has shared security footage from her Los Angeles home, revealing an attempted burglary that occurred on Monday night. The viral video, which was posted on Instagram, shows three men dressed in black hoodies leaping over the gate and crossing the driveway before attempting to access the house.

Despite the alarming situation, Mellencamp expressed relief that no one was harmed, attributing the thwarted break-in to her advanced home security system. She stated in a statement shared with Fox News Digital, ‘While we are shaken, we are fortunate to have the latest in home security systems which scared off the intruders. Authorities were alerted and swiftly responded. We appreciate everyone’s heightened concern in light of recent criminal activities in our area, but we are safe.’

In the aftermath, her estranged husband provided additional details to NBC News Los Angeles, explaining that the suspects had entered through a side door but fled quickly after the alarm system was activated. He noted that both he and Mellencamp were at home when the incident occurred, but the intruders had already left by the time they descended the stairs.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded swiftly to the burglary calls, with two incidents reported within a ten-minute window. Fox News Digital confirmed that one of the burglary calls was from a neighbor who had also experienced a break-in prior to the attempted burglary at Mellencamp’s home.

In an unrelated but significant development, Mellencamp shared recent updates on her cancer treatment, revealing that metastasized tumors in her lungs and brain had significantly shrunk or vanished entirely. Diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer earlier this year, she has been undergoing immunotherapy and radiation treatments, with doctors expressing optimism about her prognosis.

Mellencamp, the daughter of singer John Mellencamp, had been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer after melanoma metastasized in her brain and lungs. She underwent surgery to remove several masses and has been receiving immunotherapy and radiation as part of her treatment plan. In April, she shared on her Instagram account that she was feeling good, stating, ‘I have two more sessions of immunotherapy, and then hopefully I am done and I will be cancer-free. I’m going to keep a positive outlook, because that’s how my doctor just spoke to me — he said, ‘You did this. You got this.”

Shortly after, Mellencamp urged her fans to take charge of their health, sharing that she felt doctors may have overlooked symptoms prior to her Stage 4 diagnosis. She explained that since her highest-stage melanoma did not exceed a Stage 1 diagnosis, doctors had chosen not to go through with a full-body scan. However, after she finally followed up on it, they were surprised to find that the tumors had advanced beyond Stage 1. ‘It’s really being an advocate for yourself and your health if you’re not feeling good,’ she told Glamour.
