House Oversight Chair Subpoenas Ghislaine Maxwell for Testimony

House Oversight Chair James Comer has issued a subpoena to Ghislaine Maxwell, a convicted child sex trafficker and associate of Jeffrey Epstein, requiring her to testify before Congress on August 11. The Department of Justice is assisting in facilitating the interview, which will take place at a Tallahassee federal prison. Comer stated that the Oversight subcommittee approved the subpoena, and the DOJ is cooperating with the request. Despite concerns about Maxwell’s credibility, the DOJ has made recent moves to interview her. Speaker Mike Johnson raised questions about whether she can be trusted to provide reliable testimony.
