NABU/SAPO Law Comes into Force on July 22

The law restricting the powers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) was published in the parliamentary publication ‘Voice of Ukraine’ on July 22. This legislative move has sparked discussions about the balance between anti-corruption measures and the operational independence of these bodies.

According to the law, certain investigative and prosecutorial functions will be restructured, which may affect the way these institutions operate in the future. The publication of the law marks a key moment in the ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability in Ukraine’s governance.

Legal experts and political analysts are closely observing the implications of this law. Many are concerned about potential impacts on the effectiveness of anti-corruption efforts, while others see it as part of a broader strategy to modernize and streamline the legal framework within Ukraine’s judicial system.
