Poroshenko Alleges Financial Monitoring Service Provided Portnov Publications Instead of Sanctions Basis

Ukrainian MP and European Solidarity Party leader, Petro Poroshenko, has made a public accusation against the State Financial Monitoring Service, claiming that the basis for the National Security and Defense Council’s (NSDC) decision to impose sanctions against him relies on documents that are derived from publications by Andriy Portnov. These materials, according to Poroshenko, are not legitimate grounds for sanctions and are instead outdated and irrelevant, given that Portnov was killed in Spain on May 21.

The political party has stated on its website that the NSDC’s sanctions decision was influenced by these materials, which it claims are not legally sound. Poroshenko’s allegations suggest that there may be issues with the legality and justification of the sanction process, potentially undermining the credibility of the financial monitoring agency and the NSDC’s decision-making process.
