Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka and Gert Jan Koopman, the Director General of the European Commission’s Directorate for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, have discussed the necessity for legislative reforms to align with EU standards. The focus of their talks is on laws that affect the independence of Ukraine’s national anti-corruption bodies, specifically the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NAB, U14) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO). The two officials emphasized the importance of ensuring that these institutions operate with full autonomy to effectively combat corruption within the country.
