British Golfer Charley Hull Shares Details of Fainting Incident During Major Tournament

British golfer Charley Hull has opened up about the alarming moment she fainted during the Amundi Evian Championship, providing a detailed account of the incident that left her disoriented and required immediate medical attention. The 29-year-old, ranked No. 19 in the world, described her experience of sudden loss of vision and hearing as her body gave way during the opening round of the major tournament.

Hull revealed she had been feeling unwell for several days before the event, with symptoms including fatigue, fever, and severe body aches. Despite her condition, she decided to play through the tournament, even participating in a demanding pro-am event. However, the incident occurred during the tournament itself, with Hull collapsing near the No. 4 tee after experiencing dizziness, cold sweats, and a complete loss of vision and hearing.

“I felt really dizzy, cold sweats, had no energy,” she explained, describing how she managed to play 12 holes before the collapse. The incident left her disoriented, with her caddie reporting that her eyes rolled back in her head and she was out for over a minute. Medical personnel intervened just in time, preventing her from hitting her head on a concrete slab.

Hull described the moment of fainting as feeling like coming out of a deep sleep, though she was confused about her surroundings. Her recovery has primarily involved rest, which she admitted is driving her “bonkers,” as she is used to an active lifestyle. Despite her condition, she has returned to play in the ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open, where she is currently four strokes behind the leader. This incident has raised questions about the health and safety of professional athletes during high-stakes events and the importance of timely medical care in such situations.
