G7 Ambassadors Await Zelenskyy’s Anti-Corruption Bill for Ukraine Independence

G7 ambassadors and Ukrainian officials, including EU Ambassador Katarina Mathernová, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, and Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka, are awaiting President Zelenskyy’s announced bill to ensure the independence of Ukraine’s anti-corruption bodies. The bill is expected to be presented to the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, in the coming weeks as part of the country’s efforts to strengthen its institutions and combat corruption. The meeting among the ambassadors was held to discuss the progress of the bill and its potential impact on Ukraine’s anti-corruption efforts.

EU Ambassador Mathernová emphasized the importance of the bill in reinforcing Ukraine’s institutional integrity and aligning with EU standards. Prime Minister Svyrydenko highlighted the necessity of the legislation to maintain public trust and ensure effective governance. Deputy Prime Minister Kachka pointed out that the bill would support Ukraine’s integration into Euro-Atlantic structures, which is a key aspect of the country’s foreign policy.

The proposed legislation aims to grant anti-corruption bodies greater autonomy, including protection from political interference and enhanced investigative powers. This is seen as a critical step in Ukraine’s ongoing fight against corruption, which has been a major concern for both domestic and international observers. The G7 ambassadors are expected to provide support and assistance in the implementation of the bill, given their shared interest in advancing Ukrainian reforms and stability in the region.
