Noncitizen Charged with Illegally Voting in NH 2024 Elections
A non-U.S. citizen, Naseef Bryan, has been arrested in New Hampshire for allegedly illegally voting in multiple elections, including the 2024 presidential primary and general. According to the New Hampshire Department of Justice, Bryan, a 34-year-old permanent U.S. resident from Jamaica, is charged with three counts of wrongful voting. He is accused of voting in a local Manchester election in 2023 as well as the 2024 elections.
If convicted, Bryan faces up to seven years in New Hampshire State Prison and a fine of up to $4,000. He is set to appear in court in August. Bryan has a history of filing over a dozen lawsuits against government agencies and individuals, including the local police department and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), though the reasons for his grievances remain unclear due to ambiguous legal filings. Some of his complaints have included references to maritime law and requests for relief in the form of gold coins.
The arrest comes as concerns over noncitizens illegally voting are rising across the country. In Texas, state Attorney General Ken Paxton launched an investigation into over 100 potential noncitizens who allegedly cast more than 200 ballots in the 2020 and 2022 elections. The investigation was made possible by an executive order signed by former President Donald Trump, directing the Department of Homeland Security to provide the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services SAVE Database to the states.
Additionally, Democratic Rep. Yvette Clarke of New York recently raised alarms after suggesting that immigrants are needed in her district for redistricting purposes, a claim she made in a resurfaced video. These developments highlight the growing political tension and efforts to ensure election integrity across the nation.
