NFL Headquarters Mass Shooting Leaves Five Dead, Employee Seriously Injured

On a tragic day in New York City, the NFL’s headquarters at 345 Park Avenue became the scene of a deadly mass shooting, resulting in five fatalities and one serious injury. According to reports, the incident unfolded dramatically within the high-rise building, where the gunman, identified as Shane Tamura, unleashed a barrage of gunfire before taking his own life. The shooting, which transpired on the 33rd floor, had a profound impact on those present, including an NYPD officer who lost his life while protecting others.

Commissioner Roger Goodell, in an official message to all NFL employees, detailed the circumstances of the attack, noting that one employee was hospitalized and in stable condition. Goodell emphasized the league’s commitment to the safety of its staff, stating that the building has been largely cleared and that all employees are accounted for. The NFL has also announced measures to support employees affected by the tragedy, including access to grief counselors and the implementation of remote work policies for those in New York City.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch provided further details on the shooter, revealing that Tamura, a 27-year-old from Las Vegas, had a history of mental health issues and was licensed to carry a concealed weapon in Nevada. The security footage captured Tamura entering the building, where he began his attack. Despite the chaotic nature of the incident, the swift response from law enforcement, including Officer Didarul Islam, who was off-duty and working as security for Rudin Management, played a crucial role in mitigating the situation.
