Zelenskyy Strengthens Anti-Corruption Agencies

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed legislation (Bill No. 13533) aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SA,PO). The measure is part of Ukraine’s ongoing commitment to combat corruption and strengthen institutional integrity. The bill is expected to grant these agencies greater autonomy, resources, and authority to investigate high-level corruption cases.

The signing of the bill marks a significant step in Ukraine’s anti-corruption reform agenda. Zelenskyy’s administration has consistently prioritized anti-corruption efforts as a cornerstone of its governance strategy. The legislation includes provisions for increasing transparency in public procurement, strengthening oversight mechanisms, and ensuring that anti-corruption measures are consistently applied across all levels of government.

Legal experts and advocacy groups have welcomed the bill as a positive development. They argue that it addresses some of the longstanding issues within NABU and SAPO, such as bureaucratic inefficiencies and limited prosecutorial power. While challenges remain, the law represents a clear commitment to institutional reform and the rule of law in Ukraine. As the country faces complex geopolitical challenges, such reforms are seen as essential for maintaining public trust and stabilizing the nation’s political landscape.
