Fox News Digital reported that the EPA may be sending letters to organizations that received grants under the program to inform them of potential grant cancellations. The program, launched in 2024, sought to deliver solar installations to 900,000 low-income and disadvantaged households across the country, with the goal of reducing electric bills for these families by over $350 million annually. The EPA has not yet made a final decision on the grants, and its spokesperson emphasized that the agency is working to ensure the implementation of congressional intent through the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
The Solar for All program was funded by the Inflation Reduction Act and was highlighted by the Biden administration as a significant achievement in efforts to reduce energy costs for vulnerable households. President Joe Biden’s EPA Administrator, Michael Regan, and his adviser John Podesta, praised the initiative as a win for low-income communities, emphasizing the cost-saving benefits of solar energy for middle- and low-income households. Podesta stated that solar power is the cheapest form of electricity and that the program would ensure that these communities benefit from the cost-saving potential of solar energy.
The Trump administration has continued to challenge Biden-era green energy programs, including the cancellation of $20 billion in grants under the Inflation Republic Act. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin stated in March that these funds were
