President Donald Trump reiterated his claim that late-night hosts Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel are next in line to have their shows canceled, following the recent cancellation of Stephen Colbert’s ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.’
During a press conference on Wednesday, Trump doubled down on his assertion, citing CBS’ recent decision to end Colbert’s late-night show as evidence of his ‘hate Trump’ entertainment model losing traction. He claimed that Fallon and K, who he described as having ‘no talent,’ would soon face the same fate. This remark followed a question from Real America’s Voice reporter Brian Glenn about whether the ‘hate Trump’ model was becoming less popular.
Trump’s comments came shortly after a Truth Social post where he had previously declared that Kimmel and Fallon were next in line for cancellation. He described the hosts as having ‘no talent’ and claimed they were ‘destroying what used to be GREAT Television.’ He added that he hoped his influence played a major role in their eventual cancellations.
Despite some liberal commentators suggesting that CBS canceled Colbert’s show for political reasons to appease Trump, Paramount, CBS’ parent company, clarified it was a financial decision. Trump also took the opportunity to comment on radio host Howard Stern, claiming he lost his audience after endorsing Hillary Clinton in 2016, leading to his decline in popularity and ratings.
These statements reflect Trump’s continued efforts to frame media criticism of his administration as a threat to the quality of television programming. His remarks highlight his tendency to label critics as ‘untalented’ and to assert that his influence has been instrumental in shaping the media landscape.
