Military Recruiters to Begin Wearing Bodycams Starting September 1

Starting September 1, military recruiters in Ukraine will be required to wear body cameras during document verification and the service of summonses, according to Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal. This measure is intended to enhance transparency and accountability in the recruitment process. The policy applies to all personnel working in territorial centers of recruitment and social support, as well as those in the Joint Security Service.

Minister Shmyhal emphasized that the use of body cameras will help ensure compliance with legal procedures and provide a record of interactions between recruiters and potential conscripts. The decision comes as part of broader efforts to modernize and improve the efficiency of military recruitment operations. The requirement is expected to reduce potential abuses and ensure that all procedures are conducted in accordance with Ukrainian law.

While the measure is primarily aimed at improving the integrity of the recruitment process, it also reflects a growing emphasis on transparency in state institutions. The implementation of body cameras is being supported by the Ukrainian government as a step toward greater public trust in military and security services. Officials have stated that the policy will be enforced strictly, with regular inspections to ensure compliance.
