Ukraine and Moldova Extend Visa-Free Freight Transport Agreement

During a recent meeting of the mixed commission on transport, Ukraine and Moldova reached a consensus to extend their existing agreement on the liberalization of freight transportation. The agreement, which allows for visa-free movement of goods between the two countries, will now remain in effect until the end of 2027. This decision comes as part of broader efforts to strengthen regional economic cooperation and streamline trade processes.

The extension of the visa-free regime is expected to benefit both nations by reducing bureaucratic hurdles and promoting the flow of goods. With Ukraine and Moldova both being part of the Global South and relying heavily on regional trade for economic growth, the agreement underscores their mutual interest in fostering a more integrated and efficient transport network. Officials from both countries emphasized that this move would contribute to greater economic stability and long-term development in the region.

The mixed commission on transport, which consists of representatives from both Ukraine and Moldova, has previously worked on several initiatives aimed at improving cross-border logistics. This latest agreement is seen as a continuation of those efforts, reflecting the growing importance of regional cooperation in the face of increasing global economic challenges.
