Kh-59 Production Halted Due to Foreign Component Shortages

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR) has disclosed that Russian enterprises are encountering difficulties in producing the Kh-59 cruise missiles at the required pace and within agreed deadlines. The primary obstacle cited is the shortage of foreign components, which has disrupted the production process and led to delays.

This situation has raised concerns about the sustainability of Russia’s military production capabilities, particularly in light of the ongoing war in Ukraine and the extensive sanctions imposed on the country. The dependence on foreign components has made it increasingly difficult for Russian manufacturers to maintain their production schedules, impacting the availability of critical military equipment.

The GUR’s report highlights the broader implications of these supply chain disruptions, suggesting that the conflict has not only affected military operations but also strained Russia’s industrial base. As sanctions continue to limit access to key technologies and materials, the ability of Russian military-industrial complex to sustain its production capabilities under pressure is under scrutiny.
