Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh provided an update on the situation, stating, ‘Quentin suffered a concussion, and that’s never a good thing. But the way it looked there at the time, looked like it could have been a lot worse. And he was taken (to a hospital) for more evaluation, but he was talking. He remembered the play. He was moving good. So in that way, it’s a good thing.’
Johnston, who was selected by the Chargers with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, had shown significant promise in his second season with the team. He led the team in receptions and touchdowns, finishing the 2024 season with 55 catches for 711 yards and eight touchdown catches. Despite his strong performance, he was competing for the starting role, as he was the second on the depth chart behind Keenan Allen, Tre Harris, and Ladd McConkey.
