Kseniya Alexandrova, a 30-year-old Russian model and former Miss Universe contestant, died from severe brain injuries after an elk crashed through the windshield of her Porsche while she was driving with her husband in Tver Oblast, Russia. The incident occurred on July 5, and she remained in a coma until her death on August 12.
The couple was returning home from Rzhev on the M-9 highway when the collision with the elk happened. The husband, who was not named in the report, stated that there was no time to react to the animal jumping in front of their car, and both were driving at a low speed. He described the moment of impact as a split second, with no opportunity to avoid the collision.
Alexandrova, who was in the passenger seat, suffered a head injury when the elk crashed through the windshield and into the cabin of the car. The husband described the severity of her injuries, noting that she was unconscious, her head was fractured, and the frontal bones of the skull were broken, resulting in an open cranial-brain injury.
The couple had been married just four months before the accident, and Alexandrova was also a psychologist who earned her degree from Moscow Pedagogical State University. Her career as a model and her personal life were highlighted in her social media presence, where she shared images and updates about her life.
Alexandrova represented Russia in the 2017 Miss Universe pageant and placed second in the Miss Russia competition earlier that year. Her modeling agency, Modus Vivendis, confirmed her death in a statement published on their Instagram on August 13. The statement described her as a bright and talented individual who knew how to inspire, support, and give warmth to those around her. The agency also referred to her as a symbol of beauty, kindness, and inner strength, emphasizing the impact she had on others.
Her tragic accident has sparked discussions about road safety in Russia and the dangers of wildlife collisions on highways. While there is no evidence suggesting the accident involved any financial or political implications, it has raised awareness about the unpredictability of such incidents and the importance of remaining alert while driving, especially in areas where wildlife is prevalent.
