Five Nations Condemn Russia’s Continued Occupation of Georgian Territories

Five European nations have issued a joint condemnation of Russia’s invasion of Georgia, which occurred 17 years ago, and its continued military occupation of the breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The statement, released by Denmark, France, Greece, the United Kingdom, Slovenia, and incoming member Latvia, called for Russia to withdraw its forces from the areas. Notably, the United States did not participate in the statement, raising questions about its position on the ongoing conflict.
