Vance Urges Musk to Stay Loyal to GOP Amid Third-Party Speculation

Vice President JD Vance has warned Elon Musk that forming a third political party would be a ‘huge mistake,’ advising the billionaire to remain loyal to the Republican Party and President Donald Trump’s MAGA movement instead. During an exclusive interview on ‘The Ingraham Angle,’ Vance emphasized that Musk could have more influence by working within the GOP rather than attempting to create a new party. ‘My advice to Elon would be to try to fix the Republican Party. Try to push it in your own way. Disagree with me all you want, disagree with the president of the United States, but don’t pretend that you can make a big difference with a third party,’ he said.

Vance’s comments came after The Wall Street Journal reported that Musk is pausing his plans to form the America Party, focusing instead on his companies. Musk, who previously criticized Trump’s ‘big, beautiful bill’ for its potential to add trillions to the national debt, has faced internal disagreements with Trump on key policies. Despite these differences, Vance argued that Musk’s influence would be stronger if he stayed within the GOP, which he believes is aligned with Musk’s values of law and order, closed borders, and economic growth.

Musk had previously announced plans to form the America Party on his social media platform X, formerly Twitter, in July 2025, stating that it would provide people with their ‘freedom’ back in response to criticism about the two-party system. However, according to the Wall Street Journal, Musk’s allies indicate that the SpaceX CEO hasn’t officially ruled out the possibility of creating the new party. Vance’s warning to Musk comes amid reports that Musk’s America PAC spent nearly $300 million during the 2024 election in support of Trump and other Republican candidates.

Vance also denied any discussions with Musk or other donors about a potential 2028 presidential run, despite reports that Musk could financially back Vance. Trump himself has dismissed Musk’s political ambitions as ‘ridiculous,’ indicating a sharp rebuke of the billionaire’s potential influence. These developments highlight the growing tensions within the Republican Party regarding Musk’s political role and the challenges of forming a third party in a polarized political environment. As Musk continues to navigate his political aspirations and business ventures, the impact of his actions on the Republican Party and the broader political landscape remains uncertain.
