Ukraine’s Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko has announced plans to expand the ‘Delta’ special mobile unit of the State Emergency Service (SES) to include 55 specialists. The unit, known for its versatility in operating in air, water, and underground environments, will see increased capacity to improve emergency response efforts. The expansion aims to strengthen the nation’s ability to handle complex rescue operations and enhance preparedness for various emergencies.
The ‘Delta’ unit is part of Ukraine’s broader strategy to bolster its emergency services and disaster response capabilities. With the ongoing challenges posed by climate change and increasing incidents of natural disasters, the expansion is seen as a crucial step in ensuring public safety. Klymenko emphasized that the addition of 55 specialists will significantly enhance the unit’s operational readiness and efficiency.
According to officials, the new specialists will be trained in specialized rescue techniques, including underwater operations, high-altitude rescues, and disaster site management. The expansion also includes the acquisition of advanced equipment to support the unit’s operations. This move comes amid growing concerns about the need for robust emergency services in Ukraine, particularly in light of recent events that have highlighted the importance of rapid and effective response mechanisms.
