Ghislaine Maxwell, a former associate of the late Jeffrey Epstein, has stated in a recently disclosed transcript of an interview with the Department of Justice (DOJ) that she was ‘very central’ to the formation of the Clinton Global Initiative. The interview, conducted by United States Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, took place on July 24-25 while Maxwell was in federal prison in Tallahassee, Florida. During the interview, Maxwell described her involvement with the Clinton Global Initiative, which brings together leaders from various sectors, including philanthropy, business, and government, for its annual meeting. She stated that she was ‘very central’ to the ‘startup’ of the initiative, indicating her significant role in its development.
Maxwell also shared her experiences working closely with Epstein, noting that he was ‘very enthusiastic’ about her involvement with the initiative. She described how Epstein supported her efforts but occasionally attempted to exert influence over the initiative’s direction, which she found frustrating. Maxwell’s testimony provides insights into the dynamics between Epstein and the Clinton Global Initiative, highlighting potential connections between the two entities. Additionally, Maxwell mentioned her interactions with former President Bill Clinton, clarifying that Clinton was her friend, not Epstein’s, and that he never visited Epstein’s private island.
During the interview, Maxwell also discussed her past encounters with Hillary Clinton, stating that she met the former Secretary of State on a flight. She further mentioned attending Chelsea Clinton’s wedding with an ex-boyfriend, emphasizing that Epstein was not present at the event. Maxwell’s lawyer, David Oscar Markus, praised her cooperation with the DOJ, stating that she answered all questions and provided evidence to support her answers. Markus also highlighted the challenging conditions of her custody, underscoring the difficulties she faced during the interview. The Clinton Foundation has not yet commented on the revelations, leaving the public to await further responses from the foundation.
